New Generation in Journalism

Access Bank and the British Council are pleased to announce a special training programme for journalists of Baku State University.

The project is aimed at helping a group of young journalists raise their skills and competencies to international standards through a specifically designed comprehensive training programme which will address participants’ journalistic skills.

25 participants will be selected to take part in the training which will be held in Baku starting from September 2012. During the training the most active participants will be selected to go to study tour in Cardiff and London in 2013 involving visits and placements at well-known newspapers, magazines and other media establishments like BBC, CNN, Reuters, etc and meetings with leading journalists in UK.

We encourage students from Baku State Univeristy to apply for participation at the training.

The programme will focus on enhancing the following journalistic competencies and skills:

 

  • TV and radio features writing skills
  • TV and radio news reporting
  • Online journalism
  • Social networks (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube etc)

 

The training will be based on the following themes:

-        Ethics, balanced and fair reporting

-        Economics journalism

-        Business journalism

 

Eligible participants must:

  • To be a student of Baku State University during the course term
  • be working for national broadcast, print, electronic periodical or online media;
  • Elementary level of English language
  • be available for the above-mentioned training courses for an extended period of time which includes:

a)       3 training sessions in Baku (5 full days each session)

b)       4-5-day study visit to UK

 

Note: Participation at all training sessions is important.

 

All interested applicants should download an application form from the British Council website www.britishcouncil.az and email to enquiries@britishcouncil.az not later than 18 May 2012.
